We talked about loudness in terms of sound pressure levels and I mentioned that the human ear tends to be more sensitive to frequencies in the 1 - 4 kHz range.

This website http://newt.phys.unsw.edu.au/jw/hearing.html lets you test your own subjective loudness hearing response.

My own response is attached - higher position bars means less sensitivity (you have to boost the volume to get it subjectively the same as 1 kHz). It seems to bear this out, broadly. Of course, the headphones and amplifier will have an effect.

Why not test your own hearing response? If you do, TAKE CARE and start at LOW VOLUMES.
