Student as Producer (Performance)
Student as Producer (Performance) grants are in place to support undergraduate and postgraduate (PGT and PGR) students at the University of Warwick who wish to create and develop a performative project on campus. This funding stream is available to students from all departments and you can request up to £500.
Grants may be used for the following:
- Creating a public performance (theatre piece, film screening, art instalation etc.);
- Developing a script through workshops and rehearsed readings;
- Technical assistance; costumes, props, sets; publicity required to support the performance element;
Grants may not normally be used for:
- Theatre tickets;
- Internships or work experience;
- Payment for time spent on the project;
Application Deadlines
Assessment Criteria
We will assess applications using the following criteria:
Timescale: Has a detailed description of activity over the course of the project been offered? Does this include clear project 'milestones', such as the planned dates of key events, travel, performances, and/or workshops?
Aims, Approaches and Activities: Are they clear and realistic? Is the design and methods apporopriate to the aims? Are research questions (if any) clearly framed? Are the planned activities detailed, including mention of others involved? Is the project grounded in any of the existing relevant literature?
Outcomes and Dissemination: Are project outcomes clear, with appropriate plans for sharing and embedding insights learned? How are project insights to be shared with the institution and across disciplines? Have they incorporated or considered internal / external workshops, conference presentations, web-resources, publications?
Budget: Is a realistic and fully-costed budget provided?
Compatability with IATL's aims: To what degree does the project meet IATL's aims? It is interdisciplinary, international, inclusive, innovative?

Space to learn
IATL manage a number of teaching and learning spaces on campus including the Humanities Studio (a black box theatre space). Students sucessfully awarded with a Student as Producer (Performance) grant are able to make authorised advance bookings of these spaces for workshops, rehersals and performances related to their funded project. Technical Support
All performances that require use of theatre lighting or staging blocks will need to be fully risk assessed and supported by IATL's Freelance Theatre Technician. All costs associated with this work (charged at an hourly rate) will need to be factored into your overall budget. Selection Procedure
Each application recieved will be considered by an assessment panel made up of staff and students from across the university.
Outputs
All IATL funding recipients will need to submit a final report on completion of their project. This can take the form of a written report (1500-2000 words), films, podcasts, reflective journals or other resources.
Payments
Once a project has been approved for funding a payment for 80% of the total amount will be raised. Remaining funds will be released on reciept of a satisfactory final report and a statement of expenditure (fully supported by reciepts). We reserve the right to reclaim any funds which remain unspent by the end of the project.
