In one or two sentences please describe your strategies regarding the following.
Provision of training:
I have been lucky enough to have worked both nationally and internationally in a number of projects related to membrane proteins. I will take responsibility for your initial training, but as time progresses, I will encourage you to take your own independent path.
Progression monitoring and management:
I like to be kept up to date and we have both weekly lab meetings as well as one 2 one meeting. We will work together to monitor your progression and use methods to best suit needs.
Communication:
I have an open-door policy and am happy to discuss any issues what may affect your ability to achieve your goals. We have a number of lines of communication between members of the lab and them to highlight any difficulties.

My expectation of PhD student working patterns?
The timing of work in my lab is completely flexible, and (other than attending pre-arranged meetings), I expect students to manage their own time.
Notice for feedback (e.g. on reports, manuscript drafts, thesis chapters)?
I need at least 1 week’s notice to provide feedback on written work of up to 5000 words.
