In one or two sentences please describe your strategies regarding the following.
Provision of training:
I am available to provide 1:1 training wherever required in order to develop new skills but also encourage self-directed learning and collaboration between PhD students.
Progression monitoring and management:
Milestones are set during regular progress monitoring meetings and progress assessed at following meetings allowing for milestones to be adjusted and additional support provided where required.
Communication:
I communicate with PhD students through face to face meetings, email, MS Teams as well as through a WhatsApp group. I respond to enquiries quickly and encourage regular communication to ensure that any problems or delays can be addressed quickly.
How often do your PhD students see you in a timetabled group meeting?
Typically, once a week.
In year 1 of PhD study, how often do your PhD students have a scheduled >30 minute 1:1 meeting with you?
In the first six months this will be once per week, moving to once every two to four weeks later in the year.
In year 2 of PhD study, how often do your PhD students have a scheduled >30 minute 1:1 meeting with you?
Typically, every two to four weeks.
In year 3 of PhD study, how often do your PhD students have a scheduled >30 minute 1:1 meeting with you?
Typically, every four weeks.
What form do your 1:1 meetings with PhD students take?
In person face to face or online via MS Teams where appropriate
Open door policy?
Yes, I have an open policy when on campus and by email, phone or MS Teams when off campus.
My expectation of PhD student working patterns?
Core working hours are Mon-Fri 09:00-17:00 but where appropriate flexible working patterns may be adopted.

I typically require one week to provide feedback on written work.
