XMaS Scientist Experience 2019

Project Background

Launched in 2015, the XMaS Scientist Experience is a UK national competition for Year 12 female Physics students to win an all expenses paid 4 day trip to the ESRF in Grenoble, France.

The aim:

To encourage young women to consider science careers.

The competition:

This year, students are asked to write a two page essay on 'What is the legacy of Dorothy Hodgkin, both in the study of structure on an atomic scale and in championing the cause of women in science?', as well as why they would like to go on the trip.

Alternatively, come and pay a visit to our XMaS stand at the University of Warwick's Science Gala, which will take place on Wednesday 30th January 2019.

XMaS Scientist Experience 2019 details:

The trip will take place 30th June-4th July 2019. Students will experience what life might be like as an international research scientist. They will visit the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) and take part in the Synchrotron@School Programme.

Our winners are back!

We had an amazing time yet again. Our 2019 winners were able to meet inspiring scientists, learn new skills thanks to the ESRF's Synchrotron@school programme, and visit the beautiful city of Grenoble.
