Rachael is a student on the MRC-funded Warwick Doctoral Training Programme in Interdisciplinary Biomedical Research. For one of her Masters year rotation projects, Rachael analysed an evolutionary-epidemiological model to explore how a non-infection-blocking malaria protective mutation (such as the sickle cell mutation) and a partially infection-blocking malaria protective mutation (such as the Dantu blood group) interact when they spread in the same population.
