Lasan restaurant named Britain's best on 'The F Word'

An indian restaurant which collaborated with Warwick Medical School to produce a healthy eating cookbook has been named as Britain's Best Indian Restaurant on Channel 4's 'The F-Word'.

Birmingham’s Lasan restaurant created the 'Spice for Life' cook book last year with Professor Sudhesh Kumar, Professor of Medicine, Diabetes & Endocrinology.

The idea of the "Spice for Life" recipe book was to encourage people to cook healthier versions of Indian meals. Professor  Kumar developed the recipes with Lasan's award winning chef Aktar Islam. The book offers healthier versions of classic South Asian dishes.

Lasan went head to head with a restaurant in Cheltenham on Gordon Ramsay's 'The F-Word' last night to take the coveted title.

Lasan will now go through to fight for the title of the UK's best restaurant and the final will be screened later this year.
