Award nomination for diabetes specialist

Research at Warwick Medical School into the success of a one to one structured education programme for people with diabetes has been shortlisted for a national award.

Associate Professor Jackie Sturt examined the effectiveness of the Diabetes Manual and an abstract of her work has now been nominated for the Diabetes UK Education Award 2007.

The aim of the Education Award is to recognise the importance of the evaluation of education in diabetes care.

The Diabetes Manual was devised by Warwick Diabetes Care, which is part of the University of Warwick.

It is for people with Type 2 diabetes and contains information and advice to help them and their families cope with the condition.

Dr Sturt has been invited to present her research on the Diabetes Manual at the Diabetes UK Annual Professional Conference 2007, which is being held in March.

The winner will be announced on March 16.
