Abstract:

The Human Mummification Project is intended to provide a more precise understanding of ancient Egyptian society through direct examination and analysis of the motivation and science driving ancient mummification, giving new insights into a process not as a purely mortuary phenomenon, but within a wider frame of a changing religious, socio-political, technological and economic environment.
