Eleanor studied psychology at the University of Warwick, graduating in 1986.  She worked for social services in Warwickshire (learning disabilities) until 1993.  Eleanor began her research career in 1993 carrying out a study for the NHS.  This was followed by three years in the department of psychiatry at the University of Birmingham, working on a project investigating the effects on mental health of homelessness of mothers and children.  More recently, Eleanor worked for a charity which counselled and housed homeless, young people.  During this time, Eleanor completed the Graduate Conversion course in Housing Studies with the Chartered Institute of Housing.  Eleanor took up her post as Research Assistant in the Division of Health in the Community in July 2004.
