Research Interests

I am a mixed-methods research with a broad area of research interests. I currently work on a variety of projects at Warwick Primary Care. These include evaluating a proactive care initiative for older people living with frailty, the INQUIRE study (Improving NHS Quality Using Internet Ratings and Experiences) and a content analysis of email consultations between GPs and patients. My research interests also lie in health promotion and behaviour change, particularly physical activity, nutrition and obesity prevention. My PhD explored influences on young people's physical activity participation in Scotland.

I have worked at WMS since 2012, initially as a Research Fellow on the 'Families for Health' study, a randomised controlled trial to evaluate the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of an intervention for the treatment of childhood obesity. I joined Warwick Primary Care in July 2016. I began my research career at the University of Southampton in 2002, where I worked as a systematic reviewer to inform NICE guidance. I went on to work as a Research Associate at the Child and Adolescent Health Research Unit (CAHRU) at the University of Edinburgh and the University of St. Andrews (2007-2012), where I worked on a variety of projects related to child and adolescent health, particularly in the area of young people's physical activity. I have a BSc (Hons) in Sports and Exercise Science (University of Birmingham) and an MSc in Health Promotion (University of Wales, Swansea). I completed my PhD by publication in Health Sciences in 2013 at the University of Warwick.
