Are you interested in the context of the current NHS reforms? Would you like to understand the policy process, how it applies to healthcare and who makes the decisions that affect your day to day role?

  • This course is designed to help you understand the current and historical policy context of your team, organisation and the wider NHS. You will gain an appreciation of policies at key points in the history of the NHS and understand how the current reform agenda fits into this
  • You will learn about theories of the health policy process through a series of case studies, historical and contemporary, national and local. This will help you gain a practical understanding of organisations and systems in the NHS and how they work together
  • Lectures, guided reading, structured debate and group exercises will support your learning throughout this module. You will be encouraged to draw upon you own experience, and apply this during your teaching sessions
