Funding Opportunities

Here is a comprehensive list of Fellowships applicable to Chemistry candidates for 2018.

Please note that for Independent Fellowship applications, candidates must contact the Chemistry Department Research Committee 2 months in advance of the deadline to express their interest in submitting a proposal. This will apply to the Royal Society University Research Fellowship, the Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship, the European Research Council Starting Grant, the Wellcome Trust Sir Henry Dale Fellowship, the EPSRC Post-Doctoral and Early Career Fellowships, the MRC Career Development Fellowship and the BBSRC David Philips Fellowship. Please contact Prof David Haddleton, Prof Greg Challis and Dr Adrian Chaplin to express interest in any of the Independent schemes.

Please also note that for the Leverhulme Trust Early Career Fellowship and for the Ramsey Memorial Trust Fellowship, the trusts will contribute 50% of each Fellow's total salary costs with the balance to be paid by the host institution. As such, an internal selection takes place every year for candidates.

This cross-UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) scheme will support early career researchers and innovators with outstanding potential in universities, UK registered businesses, and other research and user environments including research councils' institutes and laboratories.

The FLF scheme welcomes applications from both UK and international applicants and individuals should use the person specification to assess and justify their suitability for the scheme. The support of the institution will be a critical component of all fellowships which will enable the fellow to transition to or establish their research/innovation independence in any area supported by UKRI.

EPSRC Fellowships

BBSRC Fellowships

Discovery Fellowship

Deadline: 9th May 2018

The Discovery Fellowship (DF) will provide support for researchers wishing to undertake independent research and gain leadership skills.
