Alexandros Gkiokas

I am a PhD student currently doing my research on Imitation Learning in Artificial Intelligence and Computing.

My supervisor is Dr Alexandra Cristea, and I am a member of the Intelligent and Adaptive Systems research group.

I am originally from Athens, Greece, where I did my B.Sc in Computer Information Systems at the American College of Greece.
I did my M.Sc at University of Hertfordshire in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics where I was suprvised by Antoine Hiolle.
My Masters Research Project was on "Unsupervised Online Sensorimotor Learning for Humanoid Robots" which essentially lead to this Phd research

I am being sponsored by Ortelio Ltd, where I work as a Researcher and Senior Developer.

My main interests are in:

  • Knowledge Representation
  • Machine Learning
  • Reasoning & Logic
  • Artificial Neural Networks
  • Humanoid Robotics

I am currently experimenting using a prototype framework (written in C++11 and Javascript) which extracts information from RSS feeds, and projects them on Conceptual Graphs.

I've also developed an extension to SARSA (Reinforcement Learning) which uses distributional and relational semantics, in order to approximate States, Actions and Policies.
