I am a Ph.D. student studying at the Department of Computer Science, and my supervisor is Prof Peter Triantafillou. I hold two master degrees from Imperial College London and the University of Glasgow. My undergraduate study was taken at Xi'an Jiaotong University China. Besides, I have some work experience at China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd.
My current research is focused on model prediction and machine learning. Several regression models are combined to create a new ensemble model called QReg. To be more specific, we have built a classifier reflecting the prediction abilities of base models in the query space, and use this classifier to aid model selection. It achieves better accuracy than the state-of-art XGboost regression. Furthermore, I am applying QReg to Approximate Query Processing (AQP), to see if regression models could help aid aggregate functions like COUNT, AVG, SUM, etc, in RDBMS.
In 2017/18 I was involved with CS346 Advanced Databases.
In 2018/19 I am the tutors for CS258 Database Systems and CS346 Advanced Databases.
