Research Interests



My main research interests are the detection, segmentation, and classification of nuclie structure from whole slide histopathology images for cancer grading and prognosis. I am actively working towards the accurate detection and segmetnation of early colorectal cancer using deep convulotional neural networks. Based on the segmetnation hypothesis, my main research is focused on the spatial relationship among different cancer cells to assist pathologists for better cancer grading. Before joining the TIA Lab in the Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick, I was actively working on Robust Principle Component Analysis, Robust Matrix Completion, Subspace Clustering, Background Modeling, Background Subtraction, Moving Object Detection, Foreground Segmentation, Video Surveillance and Analysis, Salient object detection, Visual Object Tracking using Low-rank and Sparse tracking, Object Tracking using Deep Learning, and Medical Image Analysis.

Current Project

I am currently working on a Mircro-Community Analytics for Histology Landscapes (MiCAHiL) project for the analysis of cancer cells.

Biography

Sajid Javed is currently a Post-doctoral research fellow in the Department of Computer Science, University of Warwick, United Kingdom, from October, 2017. Dr. Sajid is working actively on MiCAHiL project under the supervision of Prof. Nasir Rajpoot at TIA Lab. Before joining the TIA Lab, he obtained his Bs.c (hons) degree in Computer Science from University of Hertfordshire, UK, in 2010. He joined the Virtual Reality Laboratory of Kyungpook National University, Republic of Korea, in 2012 where he completed his combined Master's and Doctoral degrees in Computer Science under the supervision of Prof. Soon Ki Jung and co-supervision of Prof. Thierry Bouwmans from MIA Lab, France in 2017. Dr. Sajid has co-authored about 30 publications, this includes several journals and international conferences publications in the area of Robust Principal Component Analysis for Background-Foregorund Modeling.
