Aparajita Haldar

About me

I am a PhD student in the Department of Computer Science. My PhD is funded via the Feuer International Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence 2018. I work alongside the CDT Urban Science group, based at the Warwick Institute for the Science of Cities and supported by the EPSRC. I am working with Prof. Hakan Ferhatosmanoglu as my primary supervisor.

Before joining Warwick, I graduated with a dual degree of BE in Computer Science and MSc in Mathematics from BITS Pilani, Goa, India in 2018. During this degree programme I also spent one year away completing two undergraduate thesis projects. The first of these was with Imperial College London and Maxeler Technologies London, and the second was at Johns Hopkins University.

Research

My research interests are broadly in the field of artificial intelligence. In particular, I am looking into improving data representations using knowledge bases, applied to various text and multimodal domains such as search/retrieval problems. I am also using graph partitioning techniques to improve efficiency, and am examining ML/AI solutions for fairness and social good.
