Our Electrical & Electronic degree allows you to develop specialist knowledge of the scientific concepts, design and methods relating to electrical and electronic engineering products, processes and systems.

This programme is open to students enrolled on the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme. After studying two years at HUST, you will spend two years at the University of Warwick studying alongside all our other second and third year Electrical and Electronic Engineering students. You will graduate with a BEng degree from the University of Warwick.

Modules studied at Warwick on this course reflect our key research areas including power electronics and systems, communications, embedded systems and silicon-based smart sensors. The third-year individual project forms an important part of the course and an example of a past individual project, which also had industrial support, is ‘Delivering Satellites to Space with Power Electronics.’ Our refurbished, state-of-the-art laboratories are equipped with software and instrumentation to support the different teaching activities in electrical and electronic engineering.

Electrical and Electronic Engineering graduates contribute to a variety of sectors and industries such as power electronics, electrical power generation, aerospace, automotive, marine engineering and a sustainable environment.

Accreditation

The BEng (Hons) Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Entry requirements

This course is open to students enrolled on the Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme, providing they meet the following entry requirements:

  • An average of at least 75% overall across years 1 and 2 of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at HUST with all modules passed

As part of the application process you will need to provide your most recent transcript. Your referee will also need to comment on your academic performance in their reference as part of the UCAS application.

Course structure

At Warwick you will study the second and third year of our Electrical and Electronic Engineering degree, and graduate with a BEng degree.

Year 2, Term 1

Our induction activities taking place during Welcome Week are designed to help you settle in and make new friends. You will also attend bridging activities during this week which will help you to prepare yourself for the start of term.

In term 1 all students study the following core modules, in conjunction with all other Engineering students in the School of Engineering (regardless of specialism):

Year 2, Terms 2 & 3

In terms 2 and 3 students begin to specialise in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and study 3 core modules and 1 optional module:

Tuition fees

Tuition fees are available on the University website. Please note that BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a Band 2 course.

Scholarships

The School of Engineering will provide a 10% fee discount scholarship for successful candidates.

Living Costs

It is important that you budget carefully during your studies at Warwick. Your living costs will depend on your study level, whether you live on or off campus and your own lifestyle.
