WHO WILL IT ATTRACT: Final and penultimate year university students studying a STEM related subject, such as computer science, engineering, mathematics or physics, who identify as female and are seeking career opportunities in London.

Generating Genius/National Grid | Grid for Good Talent Development Pathway

Generating Genius is a charity who work to widen access to high-level STEM careers. They are partnered with the National Grid on the Generating Genius and Grid for Good Talent Development Pathway, a long-term, multi-touch project for students to gain insight and develop skills to enter careers in the energy sector.

What Does the Pathway look like?

As a member of the Grid for Good pathway, you will have exclusive access to:

· Insight talks, focusing on different careers available in the energy industry

· Team Building events, including challenge days, networking and self-development sessions

· Upskilling workshops, including CV writing, mock interviews with National Grid employees and application boot camps

· 1-to-1 Mentoring with National Grid employees

· Paid work experience opportunities with National Grid

· Graduate job opportunities, including Graduate Schemes, Apprenticeships and Internships with National Grid

We are hosting an online welcome event on 24 February, 5.00 - 6.30 pm. This event will feature a careers panel with current National Grid employees, a valuable opportunity to learn more about career paths within the energy sector.

To be eligible for this pathway, you must:

  • Be from black African or Caribbean heritage, OR have a household income of below £42,875 per annum
  • Be in the penultimate year below of your course
  • Be studying Computer Science, Engineering, Maths or Physics.

Part-Time Work Opportunity: WMG - Resource Developer

This is an opportunity for undergraduate engineering students to take part in the development of a set of resources for 9-14 year olds. These resources are supported by advice and examples in the form of written and video resources. This role is to specifically to support the development the video content and some of the written materials.

This role involves working with the WMG outreach team on the development of video content and written materials to support the set of resources currently being developed.

There is an initial block of 10 hours work and further hours maybe available. The specific dates and times for this work is flexible, and by agreement of both parties.

This role is suitable for current undergraduate engineering students, with an interest in science communication and education.

What is the role?

Who is best suited to this role?

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in data analysis (this is a bonus, but not essential)
