Children in the School of Engineering

It must be recognised that this is an engineering environment - children are often unaware of the dangers that are present which puts them at greater risk of injury. It is therefore NOT PERMITTED to bring a child into the School of Engineering unless it has been agreed by your line manager or supervisor. This will only be allowed under extenuating circumstances and must not be taken advantage of. Under normal circumstances, you will be asked to work from home or make alternative suitable childcare provision. Any person who brings a child in without authority will be requested to remove their child from the premises.

At NO time must children be permitted to enter laboratories or workshop areas, this includes anywhere in the basement of the School unless they are part of an organised group, who are visiting the School on a Taster Day or other scheme which is introduced to encourage children to study Engineering.
