Door entry system


The entrance system will be based on fobs. Each member will have one to be allowed in. They use RFID technology. It will allow to recognises different types of users, log the time of entry, etc... An LED will show the outcome of the attempt and members can let other people in as requested. The old mechanical lock kept and a back up system will be put into place:just show a fob

When close to the reader, the communication to the host computer is made via the receiving antenna in the reader. It looks up its validity in the database. When authenticated, the mechanical latch to the door lock open, an LED gives a visual result and the member is let in

One of the most important features of electronic door locks are fail-safes, as should power fail you want to know that either the door will allow you to exit the building say in the event of a fire or stay locked in the case of a high security door.

The two fail safes are created by having a slightly different arrangement within the lock itself. For the door to stay locked during a power failure we need a setup where power pulls the locking plunger in to unlock the door, and therefore to have the door unlock in a power failure we require power to cause the plunger to move out to lock the door.

In the situation we are using the electronic lock it is on an internal door which we wish to be unlocked when power fails so not to trap people within the club.
