Experimental Rig Set-up

deconvolutiontesting rig set up

A series of experiments will be conducted to test the limitations of the algorithm. These will be conducted in the engineering laboratory using a scaled manhole test rig. Similar rigs have been used previously for experiments investigating manhole flows. The rig has been designed for PhD research within the department. Experimental results will be analysed using the deconvolution algorithm technique. Testing will involve imputing various flow types into the system. Flows will be varied through the system using a flow controller which has been purchased for the Fluorescent dyes will be injected upstream of the manhole. The manhole’s input and output flows will be measured using fluorometers positioned appropriately within the rig. Computer software will be used to produce a data set which can then be processed by the algorithm.
