Tunnel fire

This study, which is due to start in September 2020, will primarily focus on the fire behaviour and smoke propagation in a tunnel-style depot. The main objectives include: 1) To build a reasonable physical and numerical model to comprehensively reflect the structural characteristics of the tunnel-style depot; 2) To construct a mathematical model that can comprehensively reflect the branch tunnel of tunnel-style depot as well as global, correctly couple one-dimensional network model and three dimensional field model to simulate the smoke flow distribution with accuracy and high efficiency; 3) To obtain the comprehensive effect and mechanism of many factors caused by the special structure and different ventilation patterns of tunnel-style depot, namely, the sealing condition, slope, shaft shape and height, velocity of jet fan, quantity of smoke emission and fire location on the smoke propagation and emission.
