Project 2

Synthesis and characterisation of functional magnetic materials.

Introducing new apparatus of process intensification requires a new process infrastructure both from process control side and from the chemistry itself. The project aims for the creation of new and better functional magnetic materials based on bimetallic nanoparticles and Ni ferrites. These materials are synthesized and characterized extensively by X-ray diffraction, transition electron microscopy, extended X-ray absorption fine structure, vibrating sample magnetometry and SQUID magnetometry. Followed by the electromagnetic characterization, the thermal capability of the samples is investigated. The knowledge acquired through various characterization methodologies will reveal the structural and physical properties needed to determine the aspects of particle interaction, resulting in insight for optimization and novel cross discipline applications.
