Gabriel obtained a BSc in fundamental and experimental physical sciences, including chemistry modules, from the University of Paris and an MSc in theoretical particle and nuclear physics oriented astrophysics and cosmology, from the University of Strasbourg in 2005. After his graduation, he was awarded a research fellowship in solid state physics from the French Space Agency (CNES) for two years, where he worked on the modelling of electrical in-fine microscopic behaviour of dielectric materials under irradiation conditions.

Gabriel has also been involved in teaching – he worked as a teaching assistant at ISAE-SUPAERO in 2006-2007 for laser physics and electromagnetic waves modules to 3rd and 4th year Supaero engineers, respectively.

He completed his PhD at the University of Leeds in 2011, were he contributed to the modelling of unipolar semiconductor lasers emitting in the mid-IR and THz range in order to account for experimental measurements and optimise the performances of investigated devices thermally, optically and through transport properties employing mainly quantum formalisms and semi-classical techniques.

Gabriel joined the University of Warwick in 2015 to support and extend the existing capabilities of the Quantum Devices group, and collaborate closely with renowned international and sharply skilled experts and technicians in the narrow band-gap semiconductors field and beyond.
