Structural Behaviour of Semi-Rigid Tubular Joints
Tubular columns are increasingly popular in steel frame construction due to their attractive appearance and structural efficiency, including high torsional stiffness. In order to enhance their use in frames to withstand extreme actions, safe and efficient joints are needed to connect the columns to steel beams. This research investigates into the structural response of semi-rigid tubular joints through analytical derivations, experimental investigations, numerical simulations and statistical analyses which together will form a sound basis for design.
