AXA Post-Doctoral Fellowships Competition 2013-14
AXA Post-Doctoral Fellowships Competition
The mission of the AXA Research Fund is to fund basic research dedicated to a better understanding of risk. Projects must contribute to a better understanding of one of three clusters of risks; Life Risks, Socio-economic Risks, and Environmental Risks. Within these broad areas of interest AXA offers 12 Research Fields in which applications can be made. They are:
BIOLOGY & BIOCHEMISTRY MATHEMATICS
BIOLOGY & GENETICS MICROBIOLOGY
ECONOMICS & BUSINESS NEUROSCIENCE & BEHAVIOR
ENVIRONMENT/ECOLOGY PLANT & ANIMAL SCIENCE
GEOSCIENCES PSYCHIATRY/PSYCHOLOGY
IMMUNOLOGY SOCIAL SCIENCES, GENERAL
There is a three-stage application procedure the main elements of which are:
a) Closing on 15 November 2013 (11.00GMT): Warwick must indicate which fields it wishes to submit applications in and why on the application website. This step may involve submitting a 500 word statement of Warwick’s research strengths and strategy – this is optional. AXA will inform Warwick how many applications it may submit in each field (0 to 4). Somewhat strangely, this step does not preclude us from submitting nominations in other fields, according to the Modus Operandi.
b) Closing on 16 December 2013 (11.00GMT) : Warwick must submit the names and email addresses of its nominated candidates (after conducting an internal competition). This phase will open on 25 November 2013.
c) Closing on 9 January 2014 (11.00GMT): AXA gives the candidates access to the application website and they complete their outline proposal. This phase will open on 17 December 2013.
d) Closing on 13 March 2014 (11.00GMT): Deadline for completion of online application by candidates. This phase will open on 13 February 2014.

If you wish to apply for this scheme:
You must let Kirsten Lawrie know which of AXA’s 12 Research Fields you would like applications to be submitted in and provide a short (one paragraph) statement outlining Warwick’s strengths and strategic interest in each of your nominated Research Fields; for example, it may be a Research Field which falls under one of Warwick’s Global Research Priorities. Kirsten will arrange for this information to be registered on the AXA website. She will need to have this information no later than close of business on 13 November 2013.
