Industrial experience or overseas study can greatly increase both the relevance and the enjoyment of your undergraduate degree. Warwick offers assistance in finding sponsorship, or industrial placements, through the Centre for Student Careers and Skills, which has a vast database of potential sponsors and employers.
Placements may take place during the summer vacation or may involve taking a year out from your studies to gain industrial experience. Students may elect to have the latter recognised in their degree title if they follow the five-year MEng.
Year out options:
- MEng Civil Engineering with an Intercalated Year is awarded to those students who spend their penultimate year working in an engineering design, construction or commercial environment.
- MEng Civil Engineering with a Year in Research is awarded to students who use their penultimate year to work within a commercial, university or government research environment.
- Study overseas: MEng students can take advantage of our exchange programmes with top Universities in the USA, Canada and New Zealand. This allows students to spend the third year of their course overseas, without lengthening their period of study beyond four years.
Gaining work experience
