Dr Binuraj Menon (Group Leader)

Dr Navya Menon (Senior Research Technician)

Navya's PhD degree was from The University of Manchester in biomolecular sciences under the supervision of Prof. Nigel Scrutton (2015). After a brief postdoctoral research work in an Industry (Lonza) funded research project with Prof. Nick Turner research group, Navya joined our team in April 2018. Navya has expertise in molecular enzymology, metabolic engineering and structural biology. Navya's main research interests are in biofuels and biopolymers, with few publications and patents.

Alexandros Constantinou (Medical Research Council (MRC) DTP student)

Alex is currently in the first year of a 4 year MRC DTP course. He was graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Biochemistry (BSc) degree. His undergraduate research project was under the guidance of Prof. Dominic Campopiano. This project was on identifying potential interactors of Escherichia coli acyl carrier proteins based on proximity-dependent biotin identification. Previously, Alex was awarded by a vacation scholarship from Medical Research Scotland (MRS) to carry out his summer intership at The Rowe Malaria Lab under the guidance of Dr. Olivia Swann.

Daniel Richmond (MChem Project student)

Dan is currently in the fourth year of his M.Chem Degree course and is carrying out his 6 months M.Chem project work in our group. Dan is interested in organic synthesis and in developing enzyme assyas. During his M.Chem project Dan will synthesise different novel biomolecules and will test the activity against halogenases and other tailoring enzymes from the microbial natural proudct pathways.

Winta Alem (URSS Undergraduate Student)

Winta is currently studying undergraduate degree course in Chemistry from the University of Warwick. Winta has secured her URSS scholarship to carryout her second year undergaduate summer project in our laboratory. Winta is keen to learn organic synthesis and molecular biology techniques. Winta is a Welfare officer of the East African Society at The University, which involves organising the mentoring schemes with the society. Winta enjoy running, cooking, and watching movies.
