Brown bag meetings are an informal meeting over lunch. They will be held every third Wednesday of the month between 12.00-13.00 in BSR1. The meetings will comprise of internal and external speakers focussing on personal development or careers.

Rob Huckstepp will discuss the steps required to get the most out of your PostDoc, and how to use the tools available at Warwick to maximise your time here whether you want to stay in academia or not.

Life after (Postdoc) Life – perspectives of a Research Development Officer.
Kate Rathbone is the School’s Research Strategy Development Officer, a role which involves supporting early career researchers in securing independent funding and making the next step in their research career. In this session, she will discuss her career path from researcher to research support, working both for a funder and within the University, and discuss how her postdoctoral experience has helped her in life beyond the lab. She will also give advice on what to think about if you are planning an academic career, particularly around applying for Fellowships.

Research Fellowships - how to start preparing for a successful application
In this session we will look at what Research Fellowships are, who is funding them and what you can do to give yourself the best chance of success. The session will also provide information on the IAS Associate Fellowship scheme and how postdocs at Warwick can use it to support their career development.

Professional development and professional recognition
The Academic Development CentreLink opens in a new window (ADC) supports the professional development of colleagues who teach or support learning here at Warwick. Kerry Dobbins, Senior Academic Developer, will take you through a whirlwind tour of the ADC’s activities, focusing on those particularly targeted towards or beneficial for Post-Docs. We will also take a specific look at the HEA Fellowship scheme, through which you can gain professional, sector-wide recognition for your teaching or supporting learning activities.
