Women in Science (WIS)
I am Vice-Chair of the Women in Science Committee here at Warwick, who aim to promote equality within Science for both men and women. Warwick Women In Science (WIS) exists to provide support, information and opportunity to promote all aspects of Women in Science. Our committee organised a wine and cheese networking evening in March 2013 and have since organised two highly successful one day Symposiums in September 2013, September 2014 & September 2015. In addition to this we have launched a series of regular network events designed to encourage conversation around the core WIS themes.

Postgraduate Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC)
The PG SSLC acts as the voice of the postgraduate student body in all matters that concern them within the School of Life Sciences and the University as a whole. I have had several roles within the committee since the beginning of my course:
2011-2012: Co-Chair Gibbet Hill Campus
For the first year of my Postgraduate Study I was Co-Chair of the SSLC which involved organising & acting as chair for the meetings. Any issues which required further attention were our responsibility to take forward & discuss with the relevant people.
One of the main roles of the committee is to organise the Departmental Symposium. The Symposium is held annually and is both a scientific forum as well as a social event. It brings together all students to exchange thoughts and ideas, and to present their work. All Staff, Visitors and Postgraduate Taught students are invited to attend. In 2012 our committee organised the symposium and got excellent feedback.
2012-2015: Student Representative
Since standing down from Co-Chair I have remained a student representative on the Committee. This involves attending meetings and speaking to my fellow students about matters that may need raising.
Culture and Communications Committee
I have recently been recruited as a Student Member of this committee. The roles of the Committee are:
1) To promote a positive working culture and collegiate environment within the School of Life Sciences.
2) Responsible for facilitating effective communications within the School.
3) To develop and take forward the Action Plan from the Athena SWAN and PULSE survey, encouraging participation from all members of the School.
4) To provide reports to Staff meeting and to School of Life Sciences Management Board when requested
