Hi and welcome to my ePortfolio!
My name is Lawrence Davies and I am a fourth year PhD student at the School of Life Sciences at The University of Warwick. I am part of the Soil Microbial Diversity and Functioning Group led by Dr. Gary Bending. My research focusses on the degradation of pesticides in soil and changes in microbial community composition.
My interest in environmental science started with studying Biology, Chemistry and Geography at A Level. I then completed a BSc in Plant Sciences at The University of Sheffield before securing a NERC grant to study an MSc in Soils and Contaminated Land at the University of Reading. My PhD is funded by a BBSRC CASE Studentship with Syngenta.
My Research invesigates if photosynthetic organisms can impact pesticide transformation with a focus on characterising shifts in microbial community composition and function through the use of chromatographic techniques, pyrosequencing and meta-transcriptomic analysis.
Please follow the tab links 'Personal Development', 'Research Overview' and 'Curriculum Vitae' to learn more about me and the project.
