Bees! bee

Whilst I enjoy researching microbial ecology I am particularly interested in the ecology of bees. I am interested in learning about behavioural characteristics of colonies in terms of foraging, hive maintenance, communication and general intelligence. The decline in bee populations is a topical subject, one that is being investigated by looking at gut microbiota for more answers.

Outside academia

Away from microbes and community ecology, I have a keen passion for animals. Having gained a first class honors degree in Zoology, I have a keen interest in conservation, animal behaviour and even animal welfare. As a side project, I have produced my own website germanshepherdtraininghq.org which provides information and advice on all aspects of training German Shepherd Dogs. The website was setup with the aim of being a great, user-friendly resource for dog training and behaviour. You can find out more information here.
