Presenting a seminar on QIIME (Natural History Museum) October 2012

I will be running a 2 hour training seminar for the MRes course and other researchers who are keen to learn how to process sequence data in QIIME.

Statistics Mentor at the QuBic Centre. Summer 2012 - Present

I help run drop in sessions for undergraduate and Masters students at the Quantitative Biology Centre in the Life Sciences department. Students come to the centre with mathematical and statistical queries relating to coursework, lectures, exams and theses which I provide assistant with.

Research Exchange ambassador - Life Sciences department Spring 2012 - Autumn 2012

This role has involved a variety of tasks including raising awareness of the Research Exchange as a facility open to all research postgraduates at the University of Warwick, but in particular to students within the Life Sciences department. This has been through holding photo sessions to encourage sign up of web services, speaking to students during lunchtimes, marketing etc

I have also been a member on the 'ask the expert panel' for a number of events designed to provide support to Masters students looking for advice on writing up, time management, tips for successful study etc

Language Mentor - Autumn 2012 - Spring 2013

I was responsible for tutoring 3 international students in english. As Master students in the Life Sciences department they required help with all aspects of english from grammar, spelling, flow and essay structure.

Multi-Institutional Metagnomics meeting Spring 2013

I organised a meeting which aimed to bring together multiple institutions to discuss key issues facing microbiologists in the metagenomics field. It was designed to promote networking, sharing of ideas and problems and bring together multiple groups. Attendees included Rothamsted Research Centre, University of Warwick, Natural History Museum and Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. The meeting was a successful one, consisting of problem solving, offering advice and brain storming.

Ordinary Member of British Society for Soil Science Spring 2012 - Present

Was voted in as ordinary member for the society. Duties involve organising annual meetings, attending AGMs and being involved in decisions for the society including marketing and publicity.
