Rachel Warmington

Welcome to my eportfolio. I am a third year PhD student based at the Crop Centre at Wellesbourne, researching pathogen diversity, epidemiology and control of Sclerotinia disease in vegetable crops under the supervision of Dr John Clarkson. My three year studentship is funded by the HDC.

I was honoured to receive a Highly Commended Marsh Horticulture Science Award for 2013.

Research Objectives:

  • To determine the effect of organic soil amendments on the germination and survival of sclerotia of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum.
  • To evaluate carrot varieties for susceptibility to Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and quantify production of sclerotia by different S. sclerotiorum genotypes.
  • To investigate the diversity, epidemiology and control of Sclerotinia subarctica.
