Webinar - Biopesticide application: a series of interconnected challenges

Monday 24th March, 4pm to 5pm (UK time) - in Microsoft Teams.

Biopesticides are crop protection agents based on living micro-organisms or natural products and they have a range of attractive properties for IPM. There are also a number of challenges associated with using biopesticides including:

  • A slower rate of control and often a lower efficacy and shorter persistence compared to conventional pesticides.
  • Greater susceptibility to adverse environmental conditions.
  • Because biopesticides are not as “robust” as conventional pesticides, they require a greater level of knowledge on behalf of the grower to use them effectively.

The way that biopesticides are applied has a huge impact on their performance. Dr Dave Chandler from Warwick Crop Centre led AHDB Horticulture's AMBER project to identify practical ways for growers to improve the performance of these products in their crop protection programmes. In this webinar Dave will summarise current thinking on the application of biopesticides.
