The webinar will be led by Dr Richard Colgan, Reader in Postharvest Physiology and Professor Debbie Rees, Professor of Plant Physiology, both from the Food and Markets Department, University of Greenwich. Richard works closely with the UK- fresh produce industry to develop solutions to current problems and Debbie is a plant physiologist working on the handling and storage of perishable plant produce.
The data presented will be from a recently completed Innovate project ‘Coolberry-: Innovations for in-field cooling of soft fruit’. This led to the design of a series of prototype cooling rigs for cooling strawberries, starting with a lab based unit scaling up to tractor a based cooling rig capable of cooling 1-3 pallets of strawberries.
