Campus walk on 1st May 2025 for the City Nature Challenge

As our contribution to the City Nature Challenge we led a walk around some of the areas where we're proactively supporting biodiversity on our campus near Wellesbourne. We visited areas where we have sown wildflowers to support pollinators and other invertebrates, where we have planted new hedges to support a variety of species, and we pointed out our new barn owl nest box. We now have two nest boxes on the site. The highlight of the walk was probably the mass of cowslips in the grass around our reservoir.

One of the aims of the City Nature Challenge is to promote the use of iNaturalist to record species seen. This is as useful in Warwickshire as anywhere in the world, as the Warwickshire Biological Records Centre is able to access verified records directly from iNaturalist. It is also possible to report observations directly using the online form on the Records Centre's web site.
