Hi,
I wanted to ask whether the geometrical interludes will be examinable?
Also, should we know the proofs and bits on Number Theory (chapter 7) in the
lecture notes but omitted in lectures?
Thanks

I will not expect you to know the general facts about algebraic subsets and the correspondence with ideals, but there are several purly algebraic statements in the two "Interludes" which are examinable, specifically the Hilbert Basis Theorem (stated and proved separately in the section on Noetherian rings) and the various forms of the Nullstellensatz. If you look at last year's exam paper there was there a question about maximal ideals in C[X,Y]. On your other question, I am not sure exactly what you are referring to, but if it is the sketched proof in the notes that the ring of integers is a Dedekind Domain, then that is not examinable.0 likes
