December 2020: Congratulations to David Loeffler on winning ERC Consolidator grant

Congratulations to David Loeffler for being awarded a prestigious ERC Consolidator grant entitled "Shimura varieties and the Birch-Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture". This grant will focus on one of the most famous open problems in mathematics, the Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture.

November, 2020: Congratulations to Kat Rock for winning the HATMEPP II Grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation

Congratulations to Kat Rock for winning the HATMEPP II Grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This $2.2m grant is for the modelling of Human African Trypanosomiasis (sleeping sickness). Building on her earlier HATMEPP project, this grant will run from 2021 to 2024.

November 2020: Congratulations to Joel Moreira, who has been awarded the 2020 Michael Brin Dynamical Systems Prize

Joel Moreira has been awarded the 2020 Michael Brin Dynamical Systems Prize for Young Mathematicians for his out standing work on ergodic Ramsey theory and his joint proof of the Erdos sumset conjecture.

November 2020: John Greenlees elected fellow of the American Mathematical Society

Professor John Greenlees had been elected fellow of the American Mathematical Society, for contributions to commutative algebra and algebraic topology, in particular to equivariant stable homotopy theory.

Adam Harper awarded London Mathematical Society Whitehead Prize

Adam Haper has been awarded an LMS Whitehead Prize for his deep and important contributions to analytic number theory, and in particular for his work on the value distribution of the Riemann zeta-function and random multiplicative functions using sophisticated ideas and techniques from probability theory.

September 2019: Adam Harper awarded the 2019 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize

Dr Adam Harper has been awarded the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize for his outstanding contributions to analytic and probabilistic number theory. The SASTRA Ramanujan Prize, founded by Shanmugha Arts, Science, Technology & Research Academy (SASTRA) located near Kumbakonam, India, Srinivasa Ramanujan's hometown, is awarded every year to a young mathematician judged to have done outstanding work in Ramanujan's fields of interest.
