Olayinka Ajayi

Hello,

Currently, I am enrolled as a student of the MathSys II CDT studying for a PhD in Mathematics of Real-world Systems. My research broadly spans the field of computer vision, graphs/network theory, video processing and machine learning. Whatever requires logic, algorithms and programming (combined) is my forte!

Particularly speaking, my PhD research is video representation learning using graph neural networks. The research is focused on treating video data as a graph (since videos contain spatiotemporal information) and designing a graph-based machine learning algorithm to learn embeddings for video data. One advantage of treating videos as graphs is that the number of training parameters is significantly reduced in the machine learning model. This makes such a model suitable for resource-constrained devices eg. mobile phones. Also, existing (and well established) theories for graphs/networks would prove helpful in designing our desired model.

The proposed machine learning model can be used for downstream tasks such as action recognition/prediction, caption generation, video retrieval, autonomous navigation, and visual storytelling.

You can find a more detailed overview of my research here.
