Virtual BMS Divisional Seminar: Investigating the trafficking and signalling of the pre-TCR: ghost receptor, Dr John James, Division of Biomedical Sciences, Warwick Medical Schoolvia ZoomAbstract: T cells are an essential white blood cell-type in our adaptive immune response. During their development in the thymus, they go through a series of checkpoints to confirm the successful genetic rearrangement of the TCR alpha and beta genes that form the T-cell antigen receptor. One of these checkpoints, beta-selection, requires the transient expression of a surrogate pre-TCR complex. Pre-TCR expression is absolutely required for T cell development but its surface expression and signalling are essentially undetectable. I will go through some unpublished work we have done on reconstituting this receptor in a non-immune cell and the basis for its unusual trafficking/internalisation.
