WMS student wins Obstetrics and Gynaecology prize
Third year Warwick MB ChB student Hannah Layton-Joyce has been awarded first place in the Tim Chard Case History Prize from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
The competition involved writing a case history discussing a clinical problem within Obstetrics & Gynaecology and providing a discussion and recommendations for future practice.
Hannah says: "With my undergraduate degree in Global Public Health, I wanted a population focus to my report so I decided to discuss the impact of rising rates of obesity on the risks and outcomes of caesarean sections. Dr Joshua Odendaal and Professor Steve Thornton at UHCW were both very helpful, ensuring I was able to spend more time on labour ward and helping to identify potential topics for the essay."
The Tim Chard Case History Prize is open to all medical students from the UK and the Republic of Ireland and aims to further the contribution of the late Professor Tim Chard in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
