MB ChB student essay showcased by British Journal of Surgery Academy

Emily

An essay by a second year Warwick MB ChB student has been showcased by the British Journal of Surgery Academy as part of an online competition.

Earlier this year, Emily Redall entered a competition organised by the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland, which called for students to submit essays on the topic 'The Operating Theatre of the Future: What Will It Look Like in 2050?' Emily's entry, entitled 'A brand-new performance', was named as one of the three winners and presented at the Association's international congress.

Now, the essay has been published on the British Journal of Surgery Academy website along with two other entries as part of a further competition. The piece that receives the most 'likes' by readers will receive free entry to the Academy's surgical conference next year. You can read Emily's essay and vote for it here.

Emily says: "It's so interesting to think about how surgery might change in the future, so I really enjoyed writing this essay and was delighted to be named as one of the winners. The essay is going to be presented at the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland Annual Meeting at the University of Edinburgh next year, which is very exciting. I'm really hoping to attend to showcase my work and will be submitting an abstract next month."
