New Warwick Medical School Professor receives NIHR Senior Investigator Award

Congratulations to Professor Lisa Dikomitis, incoming Director of Warwick Applied Health at Warwick Medical School, for receiving a highly prestigious NIHR Senior Investigator Award.

Lisa

Senior Investigators are outstanding research leaders in health and care, recognised for their significant contributions to the NIHR and the wider research landscape. They influence policy, inspire and mentor early-career researchers, and drive innovative research that improves lives. They promote NIHR’s vision of research that improves health, care, and outcomes for all.

Professor Dikomitis said: ‘I am delighted by this recognition from the NIHR and humbled to join this fantastic group of senior health and care researchers. It is a real acknowledgment, also, of how anthropologists can make significant contributions to research which has concrete and positive impact on the health and wellbeing of underserved communities. This Senior Investigator Award will enable me to further develop and expand, with existing and new partners, our interdisciplinary global and applied health research at Warwick.’

Professor Gavin Perkins said: ‘Huge congratulations go to Professor Dikomitis for this award. The NIHR Senior Investigator scheme has long been recognised as a mark of distinction for leading researchers in health and care. It is wonderful that Lisa’s work has this level of recognition and will enable her to develop her research further here at Warwick Medical School when she joins us in May this year.’
