Prof Sophie Staniszewska named NIHR Senior Investigator
We are delighted to announce that Professor Sophie Staniszewska has been awarded the highly prestigious NIHR Senior Investigator award.
Senior Investigators are among the most outstanding and influential researchers funded by NIHR. They are recognised for the quality and global reach of their research. They also help mentor the next generation, strengthen research culture and embed inclusion.
Professor Gavin Perkins, Dean of Medicine, said: “Congratulations to Sophie for this award. The NIHR Senior Investigator scheme has long been recognised as a mark of distinction for leading researchers in health and care. It is wonderful that Sophie’s work embedding patients and public involvement in health and social care research has received this level of recognition and will enable her to develop her research further at Warwick Medical School.”
Professor Staniszewska said: “I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as an NIHR Senior Investigator and will use the opportunity to support NIHR in our collective efforts to embed patient and public involvement across the health and social care research ecosystem. I want to develop the idea of evidence-informed public involvement practice and mentor early career researchers to become skilled practitioners.
"I am incredibly grateful to all the public contributors and community organisations I have worked with over the many years, who always inspire me, challenge me and remind me why public involvement in research is so vital for our future health and for our society, locally, nationally and internationally.”
