API Deltavision Elite (DV1) system is a light microscope designed for wide-field fluorescent imaging. The microscope is based on Olympus IX71 inverted base and is fine tuned for imaging of live mammalian cells over long periods of time. The system allows full control of the sample environment (heated enclosure, stage incubator with CO2 and humidity supply).Furthermore, system is constantly kept at 37°C, which leads to high stability over long periods of imaging (through avoidance of thermal drifts). Light path of the system is fully motorized which allows rapid imaging of multiple fluorescent/bright field channels over long period of time. In addition the system is equipped with LED excitation source, which minimizes photo damage and increases efficiency of fluorescent imaging.
Wide-field or epi-fluorescence microscope is the most common tool in bioimaging. Due to its low cost and relatively simple imaging process wide-field systems are the primary choice for routine imaging of mm~μm scale objects (embryos, cells, cell organelles). Moreover, resolution limit of the system could be improved by post-acquisition removal of out of focus blur (deconvolution). Resolution of properly deconvolved image could be comparable with confocal systems (300~500 nm in XY and ~600 nm in Z).
