The overall aim of the project was to improve outcomes for patients with fractures of the proximal femur.
The specific aims were to:
- Identify and evaluate patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) which address the outcome priorities of patients with fractures of the proximal femur
- Test the use of PROMs to measure outcomes and drive improvement in service delivery within the framework of the National Hip Fracture Audit
- Determine whether existing instruments measure outcomes relevant to older people and to test these measurement instruments against recognised quality criteria
- Determine whether these instruments address the particular outcome priorities of patients sustaining a fracture of the proximal femur and their carers
