Essential preparations

These are essential things that you have to do or check before the start of the course:

Offer Letter

Check your individual offer letter for the conditions you must satisfy by the deadline of 31.08.2024.

DBS check

Complete an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check through Warwick and provide an original overseas police check from any countries where you have lived for six months or more in the past five years (if applicable). If this is the case for you, please see the link on the right, describing how current students acquired documents from abroad. For further details please visit: our DBS webpages. We will contact you with details of how to complete the DBS process once you have accepted your offer.

Occupational Health Declaration Form

Complete and return the Occupational Health Declaration Form to the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The completed form should be returned to: Occupational Health Department, University Hospital, Clifford Bridge Road, Coventry CV2 2DX. Alternatively the form can be e-mailed to: occupationalhealth@uhcw.nhs.uk.

The information you disclose in this questionnaire will remain confidential to the Occupational Health Department and will be used only to assess your fitness for your proposed course. Where a significant health condition has been declared, you may be asked to attend an appointment at UHCW Occupational Health to assess any adjustments to support you during your medical training.

Please see more information about Occupational Health on the Clinical information page.

Health and Conduct Survey

A condition of your offer of a place on the MB ChB is that you must complete the Health and Conduct Survey by 12.04 2024. If your individual circumstances should change or you receive a new health diagnosis afterwards, please email healthandconduct@warwick.ac.uk to update us.

In addition, we encourage all students declaring any disability or learning difference to contact the University Disability Services in advance to discuss their support requirements to enable us to make reasonable adjustments for the duration of their studies. The University of Warwick and Wellbeing Support Services as a whole are committed to equality, diversity and to promoting an inclusive teaching and learning environment for all.

Health and Conduct surveys will be reviewed after 12 April 2024 - We aim to respond by 3 June 2024. If we need any further information we will be in contact but don't worry if this condition hasn't yet been cleared.

Vaccinations

All new medical students are required to provide evidence of vaccination to ensure compliance with the Department of Health screening requirements for medical students and health care workers, and the infection control requirements of the NHS Trusts where students are placed.

The list of required vaccinations can be found in the document Occupational Health Information for Prospective Medical Students. You should aim to get as much as possible done before you start with us and then anything missing will be picked up by the Occupational Health Advisor. They will advise on vaccination requirements during your initial health screening appointment after joining the course. For further details, please also see the Health Clearance for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV and Tuberculosis.

Covid vaccination remains the most effective way to protect yourself and your patients from Covid 19 and we strongly recommend that all students are fully vaccinated.

Enrolment

You will receive an email from the enrolment team 4-6 weeks before the start of the course. Find out more about the tasks you need to complete as part of enrolment on the Enrolment website.

Certificate of Student Status

You can request a Certificate of Student Status letter via the online form once you have enrolled on the course. Some of you may require this for as requested by your Bank or for Council Tax purposes etc.
