  • Learning Outcomes
    1. describe key principles of cognitive and behavioural therapies, particularly motivational interviewing, cognitive behaviour therapy, and the role of emotional disclosure
    2. psychological therapies, including brief clinician counselling, are effective in a number of conditions, e.g. CBT for depression, and brief counselling (MI) for smoking cessation
    3. unif appropriately guided, patients can engage in effective self care/management for a range of conditions, such as mild depression
